It was all happening at Sha Tin on Sunday, even a shower of rain.
The Sprint saw a patient and caring ride from Hugh Bowman on Lucky Sweynesse who was the highest rate horse in the field but whose recent starts had not been inspiring. However on Sunday when Bowman set him for home he obliged in the best fashion and held off the charges of Invincible Sage 12.0 and Flying Ace 9.0.
The Chairman's Trophy was indeed a "beauty " contest but not as expected as the win went to Beauty Joy and the dynamic duo of Tony Crus and Brenton Avdulla who followed on their win in Dubai with another success. Third went to Red Lion – we've always liked him but thought this might be a bit tough but no, he came through like a champ under Antoine Hamelin to give John Size the second and third places. This was Tony Cruz's 1500th winner and one that he will be sure to remember.
