Temple of Boom will stay in Sydney to run in the Missile Stakes on Saturday.
Trainer Tony Gollan had originally intended starting Temple of Boom’s spring campaign in Saturday’s Aurie’s Star Handicap at Flemington but entered the veteran sprinter for Randwick as a late nomination.
He decided the Group 2 $175,000 Missile Stakes (1200 metres) was a better option for the nine year-old, who was an impressive trial winner at Randwick last week.
Winona Costin will ride Temple of Boom, who drew barrier two in the field of nine, with Tommy Berry on last year’s Missile runner-up Messene from gate three for Team Hawkes and the resuming Weary coming up with the outside gate for Chris Waller and Glyn Schofield.
Also accepting was Gai Waterhouse’s Liberty’s Choice, Burbero from the Bjorn Baker yard and David Pfieffer’s lightly-raced Lord Leofric.
Group 1-placed juvenile Rageese heads acceptors for the day’s other feature, the $100,000 The Rosebud (1200 metres).
Tommy Berry links with Rageese for Team Hawkes in the colt’s first run since finishing in a dead heat for second behind stablemate Pride of Dubai in the ATC Sires Produce Stakes.
A field of eight has accepted for The Rosebud with Rageese jumping from gate five.
Tye Angland will link with Silver Slipper runner-up Voilier while Brenton Avdulla will be aboard impressive recent Canterbury winner Sebring Sun.
Also accepting was Let’s Make It Rain for Ron Quinton and Chris Waller’s Vanbrugh.
