The two topliners are heading in vastly different directions this spring but are drawn in the same heat over 800 metres.

Joe Pride’s Terravista failed to win in three runs last time in work, finishing his campaign with a 12th place in the All Aged Stakes at Randwick in April.

But the six year-old proved to be one of the best sprinters in the land by beating Chautauqua and Lankan Rupee in the Group 1 Darley Classic last November and that race is likely to again be his main target this spring.

Winx returns after a successful autumn campaign that culminated in a barnstorming win in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks.

Trainer Chris Waller is keeping his options open with the daughter of Street Cry and has nominated her for the Epsom Handicap, Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup.

Pride is well represented in the heat, with Terravista to be joined by his half-brother Ball of Muscle, Craftiness and Divertire.

Waller also has the promising Sadler’s Lake engaged while John O’Shea’s Gouldian and Ninth Legion from Team Hawkes round out an interesting line-up.

Gai Waterhouse has her Queen of the Turf winner Amanpour trialling for the third time this spring over 1200 metres along with stablemate Bonfire, a last start winner of the Grafton Cup.

Waller has smart mare Ballet Suite trialling for the second time in the same heat along with stablemates I’m Imposing, Junoob and Strawberry Boy while Bjorn Baker has Candelara and Celtic Prince and Peter and Paul Snowden saddle up Gypsy Diamond.

Group 1 winner Rebel Dane has his first spring hitout over 800 metres alongside Arrowfield Sprint winner Delectation, Rock Sturdy, Atmospherical, Flamingo Star, Malice, Sense of Occasion and Missvonn.

O’Shea has three of his smart fillies lining up across three separate trials in stakes-winner Antelucan, boom filly Painted Firetail and Gimcrack Stakes winner Calaverite, who is drawn against BRC Sires Produce Stakes winner Look To The Stars.
