Classy stayer Signoff will continue his preparation for the Adelaide Cup by lining up at Flemington on Saturday.
The gelding is topweight under 61.5 kilograms for the 2000 metre handicap but trainer Darren Weir confirmed he would be taking his place in the field.
Weir said Signoff needed miles in his legs as he continued his slow and steady build-up to the Group 2 $400,000 Adelaide Cup (3200m) on March 14.
Signoff resumed with an impressive victory in the Listed Lord Stakes (1700m) at Caulfield on December 26 when powering home late to defeat stablemate Lidari.
That was Signoff’s first run since the spring carnival of 2014 when he won the Lexus Stakes and ran fourth to Protectionist in the Melbourne Cup.
Weir will also run new recruit Lord Van Percy in the Chester Manifold Stakes (1400m) at Flemington.
The English import is a former Ebor Handicap runner-up and hasn’t raced since the spring of 2014 when he made his lone Australian appearance for fifth in the Herbert Power Stakes.
