The well-supported favourite Shoals began fairly from barrier two although jockey Mark Zahra elected for cover early and settled the filly in behind the leading group. The entire field kept to the center of the track and Shoals sat inside the leader (Arctic Angel). Approaching the 300m she dashed up on the inner ready to challenge. Zahra asked for more at the 200m and she did not immediately respond but it was a different story at the 100m when she drove alongside the new leader and forged clear by a half length in the final strides to score convincingly. Garrard was fourth at the 300m with clear running, wound up between the 200m and 100m and ran on well but could not match the winner. Ploverset took over the pace at the 300m, still led at the 100m but faded slightly to hold third to the line. The first three were well clear while Time Awaits ran on wide out to grab a distant fourth.
