In a surprise result, eight-year-old gelding Got Unders, who was runner up in the Newmarket Handicap (Gr 3, 1400m) here in March scored at the odds of $26. Having his third run this preparation, he settled in third place on the rails from his good barrier (2), moved up (under riding) at the 200m and finished a bit too well to score in a photo. Sound Proposition raced outside the leader (Special Missile) at a good tempo, took the lead at the 200m and then fought gamely for second, putting up a very good effort after working most of the way and also conceding 5kg to the winner. Spectroscope raced back in seventh place, one off the rails, improved on turning for home, and kept battling on well to take the minor placing in a photo. The favourite Special Missile went to the front but was pressured in the lead and weakened on passing 200m to finish (4.9 lengths) fourth.
