Lanciato continues to race in good form for trainer Mark Newnham, now winning three of four starts this preparation, including the Carrington Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Rosehill on 27 January. Again ridden in cold fashion by Rachel King, he remained at the tail of the field until switched deep nearing the 200m. He the sprinted quickly, hit the front at the 50m and went on to score quite comfortably. Mister Sea Wolf had a good trip in fifth place, one off the rails. He improved nicely rounding the home turn, got to third at the 200m and kept fighting on to take second. Shiraz raced in eighth place, improved between runners at the home turn, sprinted smartly to briefly take the lead at the 200m and momentarily looked the winner before fighting on to hold the minor placing.
