Black type on Blanch's agenda for Rich Gina

Peter and Belinda Blanch are hoping to secure Stakes success with talented mare Rich Gina this spring.

The five-year-old has been placed in Listed company twice in her 15 start career and Belinda Blanch said grabbing some black type was the ultimate goal this campaign.

Rich Gina finished third in the Listed Hills Railway Stakes at Oakbank before running third behind My Khalifa in the Listed City Of Adelaide Stakes back in April.

She was spelled after running down the track behind Caste in the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes at Morphettville on Sangster Day but looks to have returned in good order after running third in a Morphettville trial behind See You In Heaven and Ironclad.

"I thought she trialled really well,'' Blanch said.

"Especially given the winner came out and won the Spring (Behemoth) Stakes on the weekend,'' he said.

Rich Gina will be geared toward the Wylie Stakes at Morphettville next month with the potential to dip her toes in the water across the border.

"The Wylie is the aim early on, the program is quite good for her,'' Blanch said.

"She resumes here at 1000m, there is a 1050m in a couple of weeks' time and then we have the Wylie at 1100m so that looks ideal,'' he said.

The stable also welcomed back another progressive mare in Foxy Femme who was given a solid hit-out in a trial on the same day, her first serious hit-out following throat surgery.

"She was good, it was the fastest time of the day,'' Blanch said.

"She was given a little reminder to keep her focus on the job, but I thought went to the line really well.

"She had the throat operation since last time in but all signs so far are she's come back in good order,'' he said.

The stable will have progressive four-year-old Validated, who has won five of nine starts, stepping up to Stakes grade next time out in Saturday week's Listed Leon Macdonald Stakes

"We'll throw him in the deep end in the Leon Macdonald,'' Blanch said.

"He just keeps getting the job done and deserves a crack in a race like that,'' he said.
