Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Wyong, Sandown, Doomben, Murray Bridge, Belmont and Canberra.

WYONG: RACE 8 @ 5:50 PM

Intriguing contest to close things out. COMMEMORATIVE (9) is a highly touted filly set to return for the Blue Army. Couldn't quite reach the heights many expected her to hit last time in, after attracting a lot of attention with her impressive debut win at Canterbury. Has trialled like a bomb in readiness and gets the key booking of McDonald. Will take plenty of beating. SILVANITO (2) returns and makes his stable debut for Nathan Doyle. Steps out over a winning trip and strips fitter for two nice trials in readiness. Shoulders his share of ability and can give this a shake. BALKANS (7) is yet to strike through this time in but has produced two strong efforts. Cherry-ripe now but is another that will need some luck from the wide gate. LOVERO (4) next best.
SELECTIONS: Backing Commemorative to return with a bang.

SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 8 @ 6:30 PM

HUESCA (10) has always promised plenty and looks to have come back better than ever, racing away to win by 3.5 lengths at Cranbourne first up. He's had a gap between runs and is up in trip but happy to trust the stable to have him fit. Will give a big sight. LETHAL THOUGHTS (5) got the job done first-up at this track and trip in Bm70 grade. He was a handy 3yo who can go on with it here. HAZEL BABY (15) has won both runs this time in, both at BM64 level. Up a couple of grades here but drops in the weights and gets every chance from the draw. PAPERBOY (11) will find this easier than recent runs. He doesn't win out of turn but is certainly up to this. MARBLE ARCH (7) got the job done at Pakenham last time and can go on with it.
SELECTIONS: Huesca to win.

DOOMBEN: RACE 6 @ 4:29 PM

WESTOAK (8) will enjoy a class drop after tackling open 3YO company last time out over 1400m at Eagle Farm to follow a minor placing at this track when fresh from a spell the run prior. Well-placed and draws for a soft run so can strike. ARAMINTA (12) was in the money first up at Gatton then settled back but worked home to be beaten 2.6L last time out over 1200m at this track. She'll appreciate a longer trip third up. EXCEED SPEED (1) will be improved by the fresh placing and is lightly raced with upside so is right in contention. RIDE FOR LUCK (9) has been thereabouts, placing two back before working home for fourth at this track and trip last time. The blinkers go on and can feature.
SELECTIONS: Westoak to relish the return to maiden company.

MURRAY BRIDGE: RACE 5 @ 4:00 PM

RABTAT (3) has placed his last two starts in stronger races and there was only 1.6L here his latest over 1800m as a $3 favourite. He draws well and is ready for the longer journey. Hard fit and the one to beat. THINK TANK (5) is third-up and was tried at Listed level before the spell over 1800m. He just missed a place last time over 1500m and is likely to appreciate the middle distance. HOLMES (1) races forward and was beaten a whisker here before delivering his Maiden at Gawler as expected. Draws to advantage and Pannell sticking is a positive. He'll get every chance to take the next step. CHOSEN MISS (7) finds it hard to win but always puts in and has switched yards on a 14-day return. She gets the trip and is in the mix at a price.
SELECTIONS: Backing Rabtat to win.

BELMONT PARK: RACE 5 @ 4:35 PM

PATRON OF KINGS (3) stuck on well at Ascot last time out and will find this a much easier assignment back in trip. The blinkers go on now from a handy alley and he's won 3/4 at this course and distance. Racing well without winning but gets his chance now. SUNBRONZED (7) is better than he showed last start when tackling Open 3YO company at Ascot. The form out of that race has been solid and he jumped favourite in a good form race here two back. Looks the main danger from an inside alley. CAPRE OMNIA (4) gets the blinkers on first time and won his recent trial impressively with that gear applied. Scored a win at his last start before heading west and joining the Bairstow stable. Will be prominent at the finish. CROSS STATEMENT (1) kept on well first-up and should strip fitter for that effort. Not to be discounted. DIVINE PAIR (2) comes through a good form race where he jumped favourite at Bunbury. Can sneak into the finish.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Patron Of Kings.

CANBERRA: RACE 6 @ 5:01 PM

BLUE GROTTO (2) easily delivered the hat-trick at Moruya before the spell and then resumed there with a lip defeat in a 66. He's a promising speedster who has a stack of weight relief at this level. Draws to advantage and Beasley goes on. Strips fitter and is the one they have to beat. EXTRAVAGENT LAD (7) was back to his best finding a place in the CL3 at Wagga. He also has plenty of weight relief in this grade and Cahill can secure a soft on-pace run. LIGHT PRESS (9) resumed at Randwick and needed it. Has plenty up the sleeve and sharp improvement is anticipated. KATTEGAT (1) led and just missed 45 days ago in Open grade at Moruya. Got even closer at his start prior and can make the finish if presented on song. ANNUAL (6) missed a whisker here this grade and followed with a 3.6L defeat here in the Camarena on Black Opal Day. Goes in at a price.
SELECTIONS: Backing Blue Grotto to win.
