Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 24th March 2024

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for March 24.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Goulburn, Orange, Ballarat, Sunshine Coast Poly, Pinjarra Scarpside, Hobart and Bairnsdale.

GOULBURN: RACE 6 @ 4:05 PM

MARTINI MUMMA (6) led and belted the Wagga Maidens by 5.3L first-up heavily bet and couldn't have been more impressive. Strips fitter and Beasley stays aboard the Matt-Dale-trained filly. She can win this and go on to better things. GETTY (3) recorded a first up maiden win at Canberra. Looks the apparent main danger to the clear favourite by some way. HURT MONEY (1) back to country level the best of the rest. Wasn't beaten far in stronger company at Wyong last start.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Martini Mumma.

ORANGE: RACE 6 @ 4:30 PM

MUSICAL AFFAIR (1) is right back in class after a gallant effort in the Championships at Mudgee last month and this is her warm up for the $1 million Final. Should get across to the lead and take running down. KELILAH (4) lived right up to the short price when scoring an easy enough win at this track last time. Must be considered again. RANGITARA (5) broke through for a nice win at Cowra when sitting on the speed. Could go on with it now. LAWYER'S DELIGHT (2) and MISS MONOPOLY (11) are each-way chances.
SELECTIONS: Musical Affair to win. Trifecta 1-2,4,5,11/2,4,5,11.

BALLARAT: RACE 7 @ 4:50 PM

WILLMOTT (10) progressive gelding who drops sharply in grade and trip after failing to get into the race when ninth over 1800m in the G2 Autumn Classic over 1800m at Caulfield on February 24. Maps to get the right run and will take plenty of stopping. CHERLINDE (11) well-bred mare who created a big impression on debut when a slick 2.25 len victory over 1400m at Ballarat Synthetic eight months ago. Has since been kept up to the mark with a recent Terang trial victory. Stable have been patient and should be rewarded this time in. KATHY'S BEAU (5) battled right to the line with the 61kg when fifth over 1600m here on February 25. Fitter now and has the ability to take this out. BOONDOCKS (4) has two wins from six starts and up sharply in grade and trip when a tiring sixth over 1800m at Sandown-Hillside on February 28. Expecting more here back to the mile. Has each way claims.
SELECTIONS: Willmott to win.

SUNSHINE COAST POLY: RACE 1 @ 12:45 PM

TEMPER THE STORM (5) is making his Queensland debut from one of the top local stables and should have no problem with the poly track. A 2 kilo claim will help and any market support should be followed closely. FORBIDDEN APPLE (11) made up some late ground when resuming at Doomben and will find this a lot easier. She has a kilo less to carry this time and is expected to figure in the finish. THE MERCHANT (6) had a tough run last start and it is an effort that is best forgotten. He has a superior gate this time and can finish a lot closer. Include in all combinations. LICENCE TO THRILL (1) puts in the odd good effort and meets a fairly weak field here. Place value.
SELECTIONS: Temper The Storm to win.

PINJARRA SCARPSIDE: RACE 4 @ 2:50 PM

STORMAGEDDON (7) stuck on well over 1500m on the main track here and should relish the slight rise in trip to the mile. The form out of his last start has been franked and the blinkers go on for the first time. Ready to peak now and can shed the maiden tag. IMAROCK GOD (9) was only 0.6L off the winner last start and gets the blinkers on first time. Showed good improvement when out in trip last start and can do so again out to the mile now. Will give the top pick something to think about. CRYSTAL ROSE (12) just missed last start after sitting outside the leader last time out, ending up 0.8L off the winner. Draws a softer barrier this time and should be prominent from the outset again. Wouldn't surprise to see him go one better. KNOCKONEBACK (6) was moved into third with a successful protest last start and has winning claims. BIONDO (5) comes through the same race as Stormageddon and is not to be discounted off the inside.
SELECTIONS: Backing Stormageddon.

HOBART: RACE 2 @ 1:29 PM

BLONDE STAR (7) didn't miss by far here on debut and then found one much too good at Launceston. Covered the others and finally draws a low gate. Has a 2kg claim for a promising WA apprentice and can go one better. ROLLING IN IT (6) runs along and has been around the mark. Hits this at peak and can make the finish. KAGISO (3) is in good hands and was only beaten 2.4L here last time from a wide gate. Has an inside barrier today and sharp improvement is likely. MISS PRIVATE (4) is second enough and is showing enough to consider. Newitt goes aboard and that's a lead.
SELECTIONS: Backing Blonde Star.

BAIRNSDALE: RACE 3 @ 2:15 PM

TELESCOPE (12) looks the pick of the raced brigade. She debuted last preparation at Geelong in a strong maiden and was well beaten but resumed with an encouraging effort at Colac, beaten a nose by a very short-priced favourite with strong maiden form. Fitter for that and draws well. Hard to beat. Big watch on MONSIEUR MOOSE (3), a debutant by Ilovethiscity for the Freedman yard. He's won a jumpout leading in and has been well supported in early markets. Wary. FLOWER GALLERY (6) is racing consistently and should be thereabouts again.
SELECTIONS: Telescope to win.
