Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 3.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Canterbury, Eagle Farm, Belmont Park, Gawler and Geelong.
CANTERBURY: RACE 3 @ 2:00 PM
CHATEAUX PARK (2) is a very honest conveyance who has hit the top five in 15 of his past 16 outings. Got the job done on the Kenso surface last time out and will take a lot of confidence from that victory. Gets the services of McDonald to navigate from the outside barrier and should be hitting the line with gusto. SPEED LEGEND (3) has placed two from three around this circuit and gets 2kg weight relief with the claim. Sure to go well. GOOD OMENS (6) has improved with every run this time in work and is drawn perfectly in the inside alley. In the mix. The well-related NOTIONS (4) is a hit or miss type galloper but can feature if she brings her best. GB import OZ LEGEND (1) strips fitter third-up from a decent spell and can earn some minor money.

BELMONT PARK: RACE 7 @ 4:55 PM
KEEP ATTACKING (1) comes here off a last-start win by 0.8 lengths over 1200m at this track. That made it two from three and while he steps up in grade he has plenty of upside. ARCADIA GRACE (5) showed good early speed from the inside draw when resuming last start before fighting on for third over 1200m at this track. Form here is sound with a win and a placing from three starts. Improver. SHE'S A SWEET DEEL (2) went back early from her wide draw when resuming last time but hit the line strongly to be beaten 1.8L. Change of rider to Shaun McGruddy who has an excellent strike rate when in the saddle, including two wins. Improver. ENGLISH HERITAGE (6) is back from a spell of seven months but hasn't missed a place when fresh. Contender.
SELECTIONS: The progressive Keep Attacking to take the next step.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 3 @ 2:18 PM
FETCH (5) resumed with a win at Doomben then missed the placings last time against stronger opposition. Better placed and is suited dropping back to a distance range where she possesses a 50 per cent strike rate. Can bounce back. MAGNITUDO (4) showed good early speed from the inside draw last time and led throughout to score by a head over 1050m at Doomben. Building a good record at this trip with a win and two minors and is sure to play a role. ONE SHY RUBY (1) hasn't been far away in two runs since a Sunshine Coast win. Races well at this distance. Contender. SOUL OBSESSION (3) is proven third up so may be ready to show more.
SELECTIONS: Fetch to win back in grade and distance.
GAWLER: RACE 7 @ 4:15 PM
KONG (1) has been a frustration for all concerned with three narrow defeats on the trot, the latest as a short-priced favourite when he looked home over 1300m at Morphettville Parks but was nailed in the shadows. Good move to bring him back to this grade and after the claim he is quite well in. Looks the winner. Perennial placegetter BETTA EDDIE (2) made it four minor prizes in a row, and 11 for the career, when he was gunned down late and finished third over this course and distance a fortnight ago. Gets a gear change today and must be respected. SAND CAT (7) got the upper hand right on the line last time out in a similar race to this. Not many nine-year-old mares win races so she is a marvel. Now ten and looking to set a new benchmark. Hard to rule out. NANA DULCE (5) just missed at Bordertown last time and has raced well all prep. In the mix.
SELECTIONS: Kong to finally score.
GEELONG: RACE 5 @ 2:45 PM
ASPEN COLORADO (1) made light of 64kgs last start when he absolutely toyed with his rivals over the mile at Donald in a Bm58. Facing a far stiffer test today but drops 3kgs and will strip fitter at just the third run of the prep. Stick with him. MINYINGA (5) brings sound city form to this race, the latest effort a handy fourth over 1400m at Caulfield after racing wide for the trip. Draws another poor gate but back sharply in grade she poses a genuine threat. WRITE THE SCORE (6) made a move before the turn but the effort petered out and she finish down the track first up over 1400m in Adelaide. Boasts two wins from four runs at this stage of the prep. Likely improver with D Lane taking over. ALWAYS HAPI (4) made it two wins from the last three runs when he stormed home to score by a widening 1.8 lengths over 1400m here recently. Up in class but drops 3kgs and Oliver sticks so keep him in mind. The promising QUICK 'N' DANDY (9) is a betting watch first up since July 2021.
SELECTIONS: Aspen Colorado to get the job done again.
