Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 9.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Caufield, Doomben, Morphettville and Ascot.
RANDWICK: RACE 5 @ 2:00 PM
IN THE CONGO (1) stuck on well when only beaten half a length in The Galaxy first up. Ran right up to his peak and should be better suited out to 1200m. Drawn to land outside the lead and should take plenty of beating from there. PAULELE (2) was good late in the TJ Smith Stakes last weekend and has beaten many of these before. Drawn to get every hope and looms as a major threat. MAZU (6) is unbeaten since being gelded and has improved with every run this time in. Takes on the 'A' graders for the first time but rates highly and is proven to have no concerns with the wet track.
SELECTIONS: In The Congo to dictate and win.

CAULFIELD: RACE 6 @ 3:35 PM
Race of the day. SCISSOR STEP (3) returns with a big profile. Ballarat win in the spring was a cracker and he was even better around the Valley before a break, chasing the very smart Generation in good figures on Cox Plate Day. MYNUMEROUNO (1) did knock Scissor Step off when he was first up in the spring and meets several of the key hopes here with a fitness edge. He is up and going and the Echuca win had a bit going for it. SERADESS (5) was terrific through the spring and must be respected. NEW YORK BABY (4) has similar credentials and is another that resumes with the potential to be better this time around.
SELECTIONS: Top race. Scissor Step can win it.
DOOMBEN: RACE 6 @ 2:47 PM
SNITZIFY (12) hasn't been far away in two runs since a spell, improving his rating second up when fighting well for third at this track and distance. Has won three of four previous third up attempts so is ready to peak and win. DASH FOR DREAMS (10) has returned in good order, progressing off a fresh placing to lead throughout at Ipswich. Up to a trip where she has four wins and three placings from nine attempts. Strong claims. EELLOH (16) kept chasing to be beaten 0.7L first up. Suited returning to this track having won three times here. Contender. MONTEZ (11) ran on well for second when resuming and the longer trip suits while AVOWAL (9) has been close up in both runs since a fresh win and is drawn to feature.
SELECTIONS: Snitzify flies third up. Backing to win.
MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 7 @ 3:57 PM
An interesting Auraria Stakes for the fillies heading to the Oaks. BON'S A PEARLA (1) has done nothing wrong all campaign but is yet to win one. She challenged Hitotsu late in the Australian Guineas. Could be off and gone. MAC 'N' CHEESE (2) will have plenty of fans after a strong win in the lead up race. She finishes them off so well. Tough to hold out. MY WHISPER (3) brings in excellent midweek Victorian form. Certainly bred to be wanting this and even further. STRAY (4) has not had the best of fortune. Didn't like the wet track in the G1 Vinery Stud Stakes at Newcastle. ALWAYS ON MY MIND (8) is bred to be anything. The Oaks races are her go.
SELECTIONS: Bon's A Pearla can get her win.
ASCOT: RACE 4 @ 2:01 PM
PREMIUM CHOICE (6) started favourite last start and was very unlucky not to win after not getting a clear shot. Drawn well to swoop on them. YOYO'S (8) is an up and comer who was too good at Kalgoorlie when resuming and draws to get a nice run. Respect. SIR MAMBO (1) ran on without threatening when first-up at Pinjarra. Down 2kg in weight here and fitter. Each-way. KELVIN (3) and STAR PRESENT (9) are worth considering.
SELECTIONS: Premium Choice to win. Trifecta 6-1,3,8,9/1,3,8,9.
