Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 6th December 2023

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for December 6.

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Warwick Farm, Sandown Lakeside, Ipswich, Balaklava and Belmont Park.

WARWICK FARM: RACE 5 @ 4:40 PM

MISS HELLFIRE (6) started favourite when resuming in a Saturday class Bm78 over 1100m at Rosehill last start and did a good job but could only manage third behind the promising Eagle Nest. Although tackling the boys today she looks well in with 1kg less in a mid-weeker. Always improves with that run under the belt. Clear top pick. SONORA (8) is back from a 24-week break. Didn't come up last time in work, missing the frame in three appearances. Won over 1400m at Sandown in her last run against midweek company. Definite contender. TESTATOR SILENS (4) resumes from a 31-week break for new trainer Joe Pride. Has won 3/5 first-up and generally contests deeper races than this. Right on the radar. STARMAN (5) resumes. Has only raced once since November 2022 so might need this but isn't hopeless. CRAFTY EAGLE (3) is back from a 21-week spell. Has won 2/3 when fresh and has trialled twice recently so he looks forward enough.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Miss Hellfire.

SANDOWN-LAKESIDE: RACE 3 @ 4:50 PM

GLENTANEOUS (3) gets his chance here. Three runs back from a spell have all been good, running on well for second over 2025m at Cranbourne last start. Suited getting to this trip now and D Lane on helps. SEA SPEEDWELL (4) broke through for a narrow win at this track over 2100m last start. Her overseas form was best around this distance range so expect further improvement now. Must be respected. PERLE BLEUE (5) has won her past two at easier levels. Harder again here but will land on speed and can measure up again. SPERANZOSO (7) was a dominant maiden winner two back and tried hard last time in a two-horse battle. Some chance again. SOUS LES NUAGES (2) can improve third up.
SELECTIONS: Glentaneous to win.

IPSWICH: RACE 4 @ 3:58 PM

CHAYSE 'N' ADAM (6) is a progressive filly who ended the maiden campaign with a win at this track and trip and kicked off this preparation the same way. That saw her unbeaten here and with scope for further improvement she can work through her grades. DEELOSH (4) is racing well having yet to miss the top three this time in. Easy winner two back at Kilcoy then kept chasing when runner up at this venue. Contender. JERONIMOS (1) settled back but wound up late to be beaten 2.2L when resuming last start over 1350m at this track. Fitter and the longer trip suits so could get the job done. SKATER (5) was a Gatton winner two back and races well at this journey.
SELECTIONS: Chayse 'N' Adam to maintain her unbeaten record here.

BALAKLAVA: RACE 2 @ 2:15 PM

ZARKANA (14) settles back and hit the line hard beaten 1L at Morphettville the latest. That's good form and up to 1400m is sure to suit. Will take beating. ZESTY SPICE (11) peaks and is knocking on the door. Went close and just missed a place here his latest over a mile. Pannell is a key jockey switch for the apprentice and he will run it right out. LIFESTYLES (8) debuts and looked good in his recent Gawler trial over 10000m. Will be a player bring that form to race-day. HE'S MAVERICK (7) was only beaten 1.7L in town on resumption. Has a handy 2kg claim and deserves consideration presenting fitter.
SELECTIONS: Backing Zarkana.

BELMONT PARK: RACE 4 @ 3:24 PM

IMA WILD GIRL (8) improved again beaten 1L this grade at Ascot and then was out-graded there in a Group 3 over this trip. They obviously have an opinion and Chris Parnham is a key jockey switch. She can bounce back. NEW MUSIC (9) has won and placed her last two both at Bunbury. Draws low today and Pike sticking is a positive. Has been heavily bet and is ready for the mile. THE RUSH (4) spikes her figures again narrowly beaten at Ascot. The mile will suit and keep safe. ROCK DEE JAY (6) has been racing well without winning. Sits handy and will be around the mark again. WOLFMAN (3) is still a Maiden but is showing enough to suggest he can get some of the minor cash.
SELECTIONS: With Ima Wild Girl.

LAUNCESTON: RACE 5 @ 8:00 PM

BAO BUN (7) hasn't missed the quinella in three runs for Adam Trinder, the latest in a Hobart class 1 where she beat home the 3YO Cup winner, Island Warrior. Her maiden win at the start prior has also held up well. WHEELING (11) was only grabbed late after leading last time in the same grade and is racing much better than a horse with a career strike rate of 1/26. WANE'S QUEST (5) resumes without a public appearance but has won first-up and draws favourably. NEV'S BOY (12) and LADY JOKER (9) are two runners that will settle in the back half of the field and should be strong late. They're both better than their most recent performances indicate.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Bao Bun.
