Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 13th December 2023

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for December 13.

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Wyong, Mornington, Eagle Farm, Strathalbyn, Pinjarra Scarpside and Launceston.

WYONG: RACE 4 @ 3:30 PM

ROYAL MERCHANT (6) won the Group 1 Goodwood over this trip in May. Last appeared a month ago and was disappointing in the Hot Danish over 1400m at Rosehill. Quickened impressively in a subsequent Newcastle trial with blinkers on for the first time. Expect her to return to her best form today with the addition of the gear. Stablemate SEMANA (7) is a danger first-up from a five-month spell. Comes to hand quickly and looks forward enough for this following two recent trials. Should go forward and give a great sight. Godolphin's FLEETWOOD (9) is a promising colt who led all the way and just held on last time out over this trip at Rosehill. Tackling a better field today but he is heading the right way. HELLAVADANCER (4) is worth some thought first-up from a 14-week lay-off. Won a recent trial and has the advantage of the inside alley. SILENTSAR (1) also resumes. Goes well when fresh and has a fine record at today's trip.
SELECTIONS: Royal Merchant to prove too classy.

MORNINGTON: RACE 7 @ 7:00 PM

Keen on PEACE TREATY (7). She was dominant on wet ground on debut at Ballarat and then resumed in a good race at Cranbourne, beaten 2.5 lengths in fourth. This looks a few lengths easier and she should only improve with that run under the belt. LIKYA WAY (9) resumed with a narrow victory at Kyneton over 1203m. She's open to plenty of improvement being so lightly raced and in good hands. SHE'S NOTORIOUS (2) was good first up at Echuca in a similar race to this before struggling in town at Sandown-Lakeside. No surprise to see improvement third up. COOL HEART (5) is racing well and should be thereabouts again.
SELECTIONS: Peace Treaty to win.

EAGLE FARM: RACE 4 @ 3:23 PM

ALREADY A STAR (6) will strip fitter for this after working to the line first-up at Sunshine Coast, beaten 2.7 lengths over 1200m. The engagement of James Orman is noteworthy. Should enjoy the longer trip and won his only try at this course. Finds a suitable assignment and can get the job done. TEXAS (2) was tackling some strong opposition at the end of last campaign so is better placed in this grade. Proven fresh and readied with a trial so can make an impact. STICK TO YOUR GUNS (1) has produced two nice efforts since a spell, improving his rating in a last-start fourth. Can take another step forward. CHIEF ARTIE (4) could be close to a win after clocking in second in his last two outings.
SELECTIONS: Already A Star to progress and win second up.

STRATHALBYN: RACE 3 @ 4:35 PM

TIPSY VIXEN (11) debuted in town with a solid effort and then improved sharply finding a place at Gawler. Draws a little awkwardly, but the top barn will have her further improved and Crowther stays in the saddle. Rates the horse they have to beat. GUMERACHA CRACKER (9) looked new on debut but will have taken fitness and learning. Draws well today and Holder is a key jockey switch for the apprentice. Quick improvement is likely. AU NATUREL (1) peaks and draws better. Has to lift to win, but can get some of the money in a race with a long tail. THE POSTIE (8) should enjoy the run of the race and the longer sprint will suit.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Tipsy Vixen.

PINJARRA SCARPSIDE: RACE 5 @ 4:14 PM

AUTUMN REBEL (9) deserved the Ascot Maiden win heavily bet and then tacked the Group 2 WA Guineas over this distance and was only beaten 3.5L after settling back in the field. That makes good reading and the promising colt hits this at peak fitness. VALLEY OF QUEENS (7) missed a nose at Bunbury and then went back belted a CL3 field by 5L over this trip. Chris Parnham stays aboard and a repeat can't be ruled out. KISSES FROM KELLY (2) was well-supported in the same contest and placed distantly. Rates well off the two Ascot efforts prior and has the winkers on for the first time. Fitter and should be in the finish. FAST FLICKER (6) won this grade at Bunbury 3-weeks ago and also deserves consideration.
SELECTIONS: Backing Autumn Rebel.

LAUNCESTON: RACE 5 @ 7:25 PM

CHEROKEE DANCER (8) hasn't missed a place in four career starts, including a fortnight ago where she rattled home to just miss behind Sistine who runs in the previous race. She'll have plenty of supporters here again in a similar race. BETTER THAN BANKSY (6) was backed as if the result was known in Hobart and duly gave the punters little to worry about. He was also good here, resuming in a strong class 1, but will likely be giving a start from the wide draw. FURNEAUX (1) will be suited by the extra 100m of this contest despite running well last time over 1100m. NGAPALI BEACH (9) wasn't far off against horses than ran well in the 3YO Cup but is out of her grade here as class 1 eligible. YANOSHA (4) has plenty of pace and will run them along on a night where that could be favoured with the rail +7m.
SELECTIONS: Cherokee Dancer to win.
