Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for December 17.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Moruya, Coonamble, Bendigo, Horsham and Geraldton.
MORUYA: RACE 3 @ 2:25 PM
FUDGE (8) is getting close to a win and was just run down the last 100m or so when runner-up at Sapphire Coast fourth-up. At peak and gets some control up front. Take beating. FLYING JEWEL (6) boxed on okay into a placing fourth-up and first run at the trip. Better for it so he could be placed at least. MAKTABI (7) has been in the market in all three starts including starting favourite in a maiden won by Tom Kitten. Much fitter here so if he's going to improve this is a good chance. PLUCKY DUCKY (10) is an improver and GUARD (4) next best.
SELECTIONS: Fudge to win.
Trifecta 8-4,6,7,10/4,6,7,10.

COONAMBLE: RACE 2 @ 2:11 PM
THE NOMAD (5) racing well and looks close to breaking his maiden status. Comes out of a strong race when a fast finishing fifth over 1500m at Mudgee two-and-a-half weeks ago. Looks to have solid top-three claims. REBEL FLYER (6) drifted back from the inside gate on resumption when a plugging sixth over 1200m at Mudgee on December 1. In leading yard and sharp improvement is expected. PATRON OF POWER (4) fitter after two runs back and racing like he needs the 1400m. Beaten for early speed when eighth over 1100m at Narromine on December 5. No surprise to see him figure in the finish.
SELECTIONS: The Nomad to win.
COONAMBLE: RACE 4 @ 3:25 PM
GO ISLA GO (8) promising maiden filly who looks to have her hoof on the till. Sat on the speed when tired late in the heavy (8) going to finish second over 1200m at Gosford on November 29. Gets the right run again and should prove too slick for these. RUSHIN' BUBBLES (7) has a handy place record and much better effort when sat on the speed when third over 1280m at Muswellbrook on November 24. Blinkers come off and gets the winkers added here. Stays in the mix. FATAL SHOT (2) ran sixth last time out at Inverell. That can measure up here.
SELECTIONS: Go Isla Go to win.
BENDIGO: RACE 4 @ 3:05 PM
OTAGO (3) is an Ocean Park gelding on debut for the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr yard. He's won both jump outs leading into this and has found a nice race to open his account. Drawn well and representing strong connections, he should go close. SPARKLING (10) resumed with a strong run at Kilmore, second and beaten just a head. Drawn ideally and will take beating. THE AUTUMN BELLE (11) resumes. She ran a good race on debut at Swan Hill before a spell and it'll be no shock to see her win this first up. ORDER TO CHARGE (2) can improve off an even Australian debut.
SELECTIONS: Otago to win.
HORSHAM: RACE 1 @ 1:40 PM
Tricky race to assess with a few of these facing the starter for the first time. Of the raced brigade MIAMI VICE (5) has been knocking on the door of a maiden victory with two handy placings since joining the new stable this time in and strikes a very winnable contest here. Drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley and looks the one they all have to run down. The well-related HAPPY FAMILY (2) (half to G2 winner Victoria Quay) gets in well at the weights with the 4kg claim and can run a race while fresh. WILKIE (9) has placed one from one over this journey and is another to get some weight relief. In the mix. SCARFACE (4) gets the services of Meech in the irons and cannot be discounted. KISS ME NED (8) is on debut but hails from a handy barn and any market confidence must be noted.
SELECTIONS: Miami Vice to break through.
GERALDTON: RACE 2 @ 2:30 PM
PIO KERRI (7) led and missed 0.5L at Ascot two back and just missed here on resumption. Has the blinkers added the first time and fitter should be winning. STAY ASTERN (3) finally draws a low gate and has had one blip in a string of decent efforts. Is back after 8 days and gets another chance. SUPER SNIPPY (1) disappointed at Bunbury but improved there prior. Is proving hard to catch but won't be far away if the awkward gate is managed. ROCKING PRETTY (6) is a former Victorin resuming off a long break. Has had two solid trials and she's certainly good enough if presented on song. The time away is the niggle.
SELECTIONS: Backing Pio Kerri to win.
