Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for February 16.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Canterbury, Tamworth, Taree, Moonee Valley and Rockhampton.
CANTERBURY: RACE 1 @ 6:00 PM
EXCELINDEED (1) went out hard on debut and was nailed late when second over 1100m here on February 2. Strips much fitter now and expected to go out hard again and take catching. HELL OF A FOX (11) made an encouraging debut when she warmed up late along the inside to secure third over 1100m here on February 2. Expected to have come on with that run and will be strong late. PICK UP THE TAB (7) will relish the class drop after making his debut with a plugging sixth in the G3 Canonbury Stakes at Rosehill over 1100m on February 3. Can run into the money tonight. LAST COMMAND (5) Colt by Tassort on debut for the Michael Freedman yard. Has impressed in two trials and inside draw a bonus.

TAMWORTH: RACE 7 @ 4:45 PM
EXONUMIA (3) had a two-month break before an eye-catching fifth last time in open company over 1200m at this track. Perfectly placed out to this distance at the second run back, particularly in Benchmark company. Consistent gelding who can break a long run of outs. HAYSIRI (9) resumed over 1250m at the Kensington track 16 days ago and did a reasonable job to finish sixth after a slow getaway. Lightly raced four-year-old with plenty of improvement in the locker. ADELSUN (12) started favourite but was poor last time out over this distance at Dubbo. Might be a wet tracker so give her plenty of thought if the sting is out of the surface. Perennial placegetter RAPID RUBY (10) has been bridesmaid at both runs this prep, the latest over 1300m at Gunnedah. Well in after the claim and is a must for trifecta players. AESTHETE (6) ran a much better race last start over this distance at Armidale. Can go on with it now.
SELECTIONS: This sets up perfectly for Exonumia.
TAREE: RACE 5 @ 3:50 PM
COOL SHALAA (6) was well fancied fresh and looked to be travelling well early in the lane but faltered late. Strips fitter and is drawn to advantage. Can atone. CALL ME SUPER (5) returned with a bang and paid her supporters when saluting at Coffs Harbour last start. Tougher this time but she's drawn well and warrants consideration. PENNY FOR (8) returns for the smart Kris Lees stable and strips fitter for two trials. Worth including on best figures. HAY PEARL (10) was a determined maiden winner here last start. Has found winning form and is capable of going on with it.
SELECTIONS: Backing Cool Shalaa to atone.
MOONEE VALLEY: RACE 4 @ 7:45 PM
GREYT MUMMA (4) is a speedy mare who won narrowly as a short-priced favourite at Sandown-Hillside two back before being tested in stakes level at Caulfield and fading late. Far better suited here, she can roll across and take catching. ARCTIC FAIRY (3) was good in one of these last time, beaten half a length. She was just behind Greyt Mumma prior and if Lane can slot her in from out wide she should go well. END JOURNEY (5) resumes having won her first two starts to kick off her career before starting $6 in a strong BM78. Very wary. FROSE (8) was huge odds here last time and just fair but had been around the mark prior and could improve. CHALICE WELL (11) was far too good at Kyneton first up and could measure up.
SELECTIONS: Greyt Mumma to win.
ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 10 @ 5:40 PM
Competitive. VALTINO (13) resumed in easier and was too good first-up for the 55 graders. She tumbles in weight and has raced well at this level previously. She looks the map horse and fitter can win again. HONKYTONK DIVA (4) brings strong form to resumption and has placed 4/4 fresh. Won and placed her last two heavily backed and has the gate speed to clear the awkward barrier. It's hard to risk the lethal Stanley-Taylor linkage. I PROMISE YOU (3) was close-up at Doomben and Eagle Farm before disappointing as favourite at Toowoomba. Has the handy 2kg claim and is worth another chance. THISLAND IS YLAND (5) is racing well enough to include.
