Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for February 21.

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Hawkesbury, Sandown Lakeside, Ipswich, Strathalbyn and Ascot.

HAWKESBURY: RACE 5 @ 4:05 PM

REDBREAST (11) started favourite and led for the judge but found a couple better on debut last start over 1200m at Warwick Farm. Bred to appreciate the extra furlong and with Tim Clark to dictate she will prove very tough to catch. SUPERSTITIOUS (4) has been in the money at both runs this prep, finishing third over 1250m at Canterbury on each occasion. Finding the line well so out to this trip back at the provincials he poses a serious threat. KHUMBILA (1) missed by a whisker when fresh from a spell over 1300m at Newcastle recently. Promising gelding who will be hitting the line hard. RIP OFF (12) made late ground but was never a threat over 1250m at Canterbury last start. Fitter for two runs back from a spell and should be more effective back out to seven furlongs. MISS UCHITEL (5) resumes. Raced once last prep and caught the eye when third over this distance at Kembla. One for the exotics.
SELECTIONS: Keen to be with Redbreast.

SANDOWN-LAKESIDE: RACE 2 @ 4:15 PM

LOST (3) resumed in a BM70 at Caulfield and worked home well to grab second, beaten 1.8 lengths. She was right in the market there and will strip fitter having beaten the smart Kundalini second up in her maiden campaign. Looks ideally placed. LAZY SUSAN (2) continues to race very well, winning three back and placing in two runs since. Has the speed to lead these and she'll prove hard to catch around this track. CUBAN LINK (1) was solid in a bunched finish first up at Moonee Valley. She may want further now but a stronger tempo can see her hard to hold out. RED DATES (6) resumes. She won a couple last time in before being tested at G3 level and spelling. In the mix.
SELECTIONS: Lost to win.

IPSWICH: RACE 4 @ 4:33 PM

IT'S GERRY (9) was a new acquisition for the Barry Lockwood stable last start when he made steady ground to run into third over 1000m at Eagle Farm at his first run back from a spell. He is two from two when second up and does his best work at this longer distance. Top chance. JEMELDI (2) is another that will enjoy stepping up to a trip where his record is sound. Turned in a decent effort last start to finish third over 1000m at Sunshine Coast and draws well again. I AM LETHAL (3) has been readied for his return by placing in two trials so keep him safe. HIDDEN EYES (7) hasn't been far away of late so is worth including.
SELECTIONS: It's Gerry to maintain an unbeaten second-up record.

STRATHALBYN: RACE 7 @ 5:10 PM

DUNMAGHLAS (1) is a promising galloper third-up off narrow defeats in town. He has more to give and the extra metres suit. Draws for a soft run and with the 4kg claim will take plenty of beating. The danger is likely to be ZEBELLA (3) who'd been threatening in good races in SA before a plain effort at Bendigo (vet cleared). Is back home on a 10-day return and her city near-miss three back reads particularly well. LUCILLE ROSE (8) was plain at the back on her last preparation but turned that around with the easy first-up win here in a CL1. Led in that off a wide gate and is likely to push forward again. Crowther stays aboard and she looks set for a good campaign. CAPTAIN JOOLIAN (2) brings back-to-back wins from the southeast, but this is quite a step up. He is heading in the right direction however and positions forward in the run.
SELECTIONS: Backing Dunmaghlas.

ASCOT: RACE 6 @ 2:54 PM

MISS SKYHIGH (7) was spelled off a heavily-bet debut placing. Resumed heavily bet again and was too good for the Belmont Maidens. Drew wide and it was a tough effort from back in the field. Top barn/hoop and from an inside gate can take the next step. PAPAVERO PRINCESS (4) went close as favourite at Belmont and then raced a short-priced favourite again delivering the Maiden at Scarpside. She also has a future and won't have to improve much to fight out the finish. YALLINGUP GIRL (1) was narrowly beaten three times before finding the CL3 a stretch at Belmont from a wide barrier. Draws inside today with a handy 2kg claim and a bounce is likely. MILLSTEE (6) and STARATING (8) are both last-start Maiden winners who will be further improved.
SELECTIONS: Backing Miss Skyhigh.
