Fundraiser For Trainer Brett Partelle

3 minute read

The NSW Trainers Association, with the support of Inglis and the Ready2Race sales, are holding a fundraiser for Wyong trainer Brett Partelle who suffered severe injuries from an incident in 2010.

In October 2010, Brett Partelle suffered an horrendous incident where he was crushed by a horse in the race course tie-up stalls and was very lucky not to lose his life.

During this time he has suffered severe physical, financial and emotional stress through this period. He spent close to 40 days in hospital and his life was thrown into chaos through no fault of his own.

Brett Partelle has been under the guidance of specialists at St Vincent's Hospital and through rehabilitation has made giant steps towards hopefully a positive recovery and outcome long-term.

Whilst he is in the process of settling this matter legally, Brett and his family are in substantial financial difficulty due to all of his medical expenses, legal costs and numerous expenses over this period.

The matter was put through the Supreme Court system of NSW which he self-funded. He will not be able to claim any government assistance for many years due to this being a third-party claim.

Brett has a partner and young family who have all suffered throughout his ordeal.

Brett previously did not wish for any assistance but the NSWTA board felt this was necessary to try to help him and his family get back on their feet and hopefully stay involved in the industry.

He has been able to keep a few horses in work with the assistance of his partner and close friends but basically has had no income for four years while accumulating massive medical and legal bills from the incident at Wyong in October 2010.

We are seeking the support of participants to help put Brett Partelle back into a sustainable situation as he once was before the incident in October 2010.

Racing NSW has also assisted Brett and his family, who are appreciative of the support shown thus far, but we are seeking the support of the industry to help to relieve a massive financial burden that was placed upon Brett and his family.

Brett Partelle was a previous board member of the NSWTA over many years has always supported the industry.

As a result the NSWTA is holding this function in a bid to raise funds to help Brett and his family.

When: Tuesday October 7 - 4.30-6.30pm

Where: Newamrket Room at Inglis Newmarket Sales Complex, Randwick.
