3 minute read

Racing NSW Chairman, John Messara AM, today extended congratulations on behalf of the Board of Racing NSW to Minister for Gaming & Racing Troy Grant.

This was, on his appointment as leader of the NSW National Party and Deputy Premier of NSW.

Mr Messara said that Racing NSW was delighted with Mr Grant’s elevation to these important roles and was extremely pleased that he will retain his existing role as Minister for Gaming and Racing.

“Minister Grant’s appointment is testament to the conscientious approach he takes which is always in the best interests of the industries which fall within his current portfolios.

Since his appointment as the Minister responsible for Gaming and Racing he has shown himself as a person ever-ready to consult with Racing NSW to ensure that appropriate policies are in place for the proper administration of the industry, especially in the areas of integrity and sustainability.

Minister Grant was also integral in the introduction of both the Country and Provincial Championships, which injects $1.8 million in prizemoney in to these sectors. It also put them on the world stage with the finals being held at Royal Randwick during ‘The Championships’.”

Mr Messara said that despite the increased work load that Mr Grant would inherit with his new roles, Racing NSW was still hopeful that he would retain the Gaming and Racing portfolio post the 2015 State Election.
