Racing NSW Board Appointments Announced

3 minute read

Deputy Premier and Minister for Racing Troy Grant today announced the appointment of three directors to the board of Racing NSW.

Mr Grant said Tony Hodgson AM and the Honourable Kevin Greene have been reappointed to Racing NSW together with a new appointment, Carole Molyneux-Richards.

“I welcome the reappointment of Mr Hodgson and Mr Green who have both made a valuable contribution to the Board since their appointment in 2011,” Mr Grant said.

“I congratulate Carole Molyneux-Richards who not only brings strong and relevant business skills but will also bring a broader perspective to the Board.

“These three appointments provide a balance of business, financial and industry knowledge complementing the experience and skills of the board’s four other members and Chief Executive.

“Racing NSW plays a vital role in controlling and regulating thoroughbred racing and its members help initiate, develop and implement policies that promote its strategic development and support the welfare of participants and the public interest.

“The Racing NSW board has a strong team leading into the 2015 season and I have every confidence in their ability to transform NSW into the premier racing state.

“I would also like to thank outgoing member Alan Brown for his important contribution to the Board since being appointed in 2008. I wish him all the best for the future,” Mr Grant said.

The NSW Government will also today release a report into the size and scope of the thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing industries.

“Racing in our state contributes over $3 billion to the NSW economy and almost 30,000 jobs.

“Over 90,000 people participate directly in racing and there are nearly 2,600 race meetings annually.

“The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is committed to ensuring a strong and sustainable future for all three racing codes in NSW.”
