Angry Owner Fined $2000

3 minute read

Racing NSW stewards have inquired into an incident occurring after apprentice jockey Samantha Clenton returned to the mounting yard on fifth placegetter Heresdecasino, following the running of the Worthington BMW Benchmark 60 Handicap at Wyong on February 5.

Craig Miller, a part-owner of Heresdecasino pleaded guilty to a charge of conduct prejudicial to the image and interests of racing in that he aggressively approached, verbally abused and swore at Clenton, both whilst she was mounted on Heresdecasino and after dismounting from that horse.

In issuing a penalty of $2000, Stewards took into account Miller’s prior clear record and the remorse he displayed for his actions.

Under the power of AR196(4), the Stewards stayed $1000 of the penalty for a period of two years on the condition that Miller not again, in that period, offend under the conduct rules of racing.
