3 minute read

Post race reports from recent Sydney meetings.

RANDWICK April 25

RACE 2: Trainer Gai Waterhouse stated that Confederate had pulled up well and indicated that the rain affected track was the principal reason for the poor performance. Waterhouse stated that Confederate had been spelled and she was advised that Confederate must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again.

RACE 4: Trainer Gai Waterhouse stated that the principal reasons for the disappointing performance were the track conditions, as well as the blinkers being removed. Waterhouse stated that she would reapply the blinkers and look to step up in distance. Waterhouse was advised that Man Of Distinction (beaten 21 lengths) will be required to trial to the satisfaction of the stewards.

RACE 5: Trainer Chris Waller stated that Religify had pulled up well and reiterated that the first time in the rain affected going was not to the gelding's advantage, particularly as the racing pattern played out on the day. He indicated that Religify had pleased the stable this week and he will step him up in distance.

RACE 6: Trainer Chris Waller stated that Abbasso had pulled up well and was disadvantaged by the wet track conditions. He added that Abbasso had pleased the stable and it is the intention to back him up at Hawkesbury.

CANTERBURY April 23

RACE 6: Stable representative for the Gai Waterhouse stable Adrian Bott reported that Northern Solstice had pulled up well and, in his opinion, attributed the poor performance to the soft track conditions, as well as having its first start in Australia, from which the stable will learn more about its racing pattern.

RACE 7: Trainer Gerald Ryan stated that Octavius had pulled up well and indicated that, whilst Octavius had handled some rain affected tracks, it may not have handled the going at Canterbury. Ryan said he would consider trialling the gelding at Rosehill Gardens prior to its next start.

RANDWICK April 18

RACE 7: Trainer Rod Northam stated that Big Money had pulled up well and pleased the stable since its first up performance, including a track gallop this morning. Northam reiterated that Big Money would benefit from its first up run on a soft track and indicated that he would continue on with the Brisbane winter campaign.
