Racing Australia Elects New Deputy Chair

3 minute read

Thoroughbred Racing South Australia chair Frances Nelson QC has been elected Deputy Chair of the Racing Australia Board.

The Racing Australia directors represent Australia’s eight Principal Racing Authorities.

In welcoming the appointment, chairman John Messara AM described Frances Nelson’s contribution as “invaluable”.

“Frances brings a vast legal knowledge and experience to Racing Australia deliberations, but it is equalled by her advocacy of the interests of the everyday worker and participant.

“Frances is strongly representative of the grass roots of our industry and the smaller racing jurisdictions.”

Messara also announced that Racing Victoria chair David Moodie had been appointed the new chair of the Australian Pattern Committee.

“David is an owner, breeder and regulator and well equipped to head the Pattern Committee and represent Australia’s interests on the Asian Pattern Committee.” Messara said.

Both positions became vacant on the recent resignation of Kevin Dixon from the Racing Australia Board.
