Built in 1897, the renovated boutique hotel retains the original Art Nouveau style while providing upgraded modern comforts.

The visionary behind the redevelopment is the Malaysian businessman Teo Ah Khing. “Tschiertschen deserves to be rediscovered by guests from all over the world as an authentic Swiss resort,” the internationally awarded urban planner and architect said, when asked why he had become involved in a project so far from his native country.

The conversion of The Alpina Mountain Resort & Spa has taken 20 months, with the restoration carried out with an eye to meeting the needs of guests looking for sustainable tourism. This has included raising the 120-year-old hotel to minergie® (low-energy) standards.

The Alpina Mountain Resort & Spa has 20 double rooms and seven suites, all with unforgettable views and most with their own balcony. The Panorama Restaurant, rebuilt in the style of the golden twenties, lives up to its name. The Restaurant La Belle Époque, lovingly restored in 1890s Art Nouveau style, will delight guests with its elegant atmosphere.

Guests can relax in the historic Alpina Bar with its open fire and enjoy the smokers lounge with its amazing view over the Schanfigg. The wine cellar is stocked with exquisite wines from the nearby Bündner Herrschaft and chef de cuisine Chris Trewer (a must for gourmets!) cooks, wherever possible, with local organic ingredients. As an additional treat, guests can ski right from the hotel’s doorstep.

Guests will enjoy the Shan Spa on the ground floor, which offers a Finnish sauna, steam bath, Biosauna, Infrared cabin, Kneipp area, Via Mala thunder path and outdoor whirlpool, a relaxation room with fruit bar, and two elegant therapy rooms for massages.

For meetings and events, The Alpina Mountain Resort & Spa offers two well-equipped seminar rooms, which can be opened up to make an auditorium. The spacious lounge is a good place for lively conversation in the breaks.

Fanzun AG, architects and engineers, has been responsible for the architecture and general planning of the conversion. The hotel is managed by Michael and Marlies Gehring, backed by a 24-strong team. This makes The Alpina Mountain Resort & Spa Tschiertschen’s largest employer.
