Senior Executives Leave VRC

3 minute read

As part of its long term vision, the Victoria Racing Club has embarked on an ambitious racing strategy to ensure it retains its unrivalled position as Australia’s premier racecourse.

As part of this strategy rollout, the VRC has made leadership changes for this new era. This direction has resulted in Martin Talty, Executive General Manager Racing, and Mick Goodie, Senior Manager Flemington Racecourse, leaving the Club.

VRC Chief Executive Officer Neil Wilson thanked both Mr Talty and Mr Goodie for their contribution to the Club and wished them both well for the future.

Effective immediately, Liam O’Keeffe will assume the role of Senior Manager Flemington Racecourse. Mr O’Keeffe has held the position of Assistant Manager Flemington Racecourse for over four years, having been the Track Manager at Warrnambool Racecourse previously. His considerable experience also includes six weeks of intensive track management and preparation in the UK at Ascot, York, Newmarket, Windsor and Goodwood racecourses.

Mr Wilson will oversee the VRC’s racing portfolio until a permanent replacement for the position of Executive General Manager Racing has been announced.

“The VRC is looking to drive the racing strategy forward with an ambitious growth and innovation agenda, essential to maintaining our leadership position locally and globally,” Mr Wilson said.

“We are delighted Liam has accepted the role of Senior Manager Flemington Racecourse. His leadership qualities and extensive experience will enable the VRC to deliver on our short term operational requirements and long-term racing strategy objectives.”
