We have Sires day in Perth to end the Autumn part of the carnival at Ascot.
The Sires is a very open race with six horses under 7-1 so finding that winner with any sort of confidence is tricky.
Race 6 sees a good 1000m sprint and a filly with a lovely record in Liwa can maintain her performances from last campaign.
She won well first up in a similar race and then began black type racing where luck wasn't on her side.
Close up in the Placid Ark she got a deserved win in the Lee-Steere Classic and while that was 1400m, she has the acceleration to charge again here – especially with a competitive weight.
When she has luck in running, they have trouble holding her out.
Another 3yo is the play in the next as Otheroneson steps up in company but brings in good fitness over the 1400m.
His two victories come at this journey and Chris Parnham will look to get him over one off the fence in a forward position in the small field.
While he takes on the older horses, there are no dramas this late into the season with the limit weight another positive.
We should do better than the odds at the moment on the day.
