3 minute read

The Rail is out 10m and the track is likely to present in the lower soft range. Overall, a good betting program.

Race 1 1400m Mdn SW

FLYING IMPALA (1) is a leader and should have this field well-covered. Narrowly missed twice here before spiking her figures at Warwick Farm and pulled up displaying heat stress. Is back after 14 days and will control the race from an inside draw. PRINCE PAPA (3) resumed with a solid effort and followed with a 1L defeat here at the last meeting. Strips fitter and is a quinella hope. CLEVER COOKIE (7) debuted in the same race beaten 2.5L. Will have taken fitness and learning and is in the mix. Ditto TENACIOUS LADY (6) who found a place in the same contest and will also be better for it. Billy Owen sticks with UP TO ME (4) who can show more second-up.

Race 2 1200m Mdn

MR CALEB (2) resumes for a sharp Sydney yard that is successfully targeting races in Canberra. Has been gelded and has raced well in stronger than this. Has two Rosehill trials under the saddle and Danny Beasley is a positive jockey engagement. MUST BE MAGIC (4) resumed at Gosford with a 1.5L defeat and hasn't missed a beat. She will be better for that, and Brock Ryan takes over from the 3kg apprentice. STORMY REVOLUTION (7) had been well trialled and wasn't beaten far at Scone on debut. Strips fitter and the longer sprint will suit. In a top Sydney yard with a sharp record at the track. Must be kept very safe. RABAIRNEACH (5) didn't finish the race off at Gosford but the first-up effort at Gosford was encouraging. The blinkers are applied, and he draws inside. Better suited and could surprise.

Race 3 2000m Cl1 SW

TELL THE FUTURE (4) spiked his figures placing at Kembla Grange over this distance and then made a long, sustained run at Wyong when narrowly beaten as an even-money favourite. He will relish the bigger track and deserves to break through. REVELAIDE (11) picked up in good style when beaten 1.2L at Newcastle over 1850m. He will be better for that and come hard. PREFER THE WINK (3) comes out of the same contest where he surprisingly settled forward. He placed here prior and that's a better measure of his ability. Has a key gear switch and Danny Beasley's booking is a push. BLIND DATE (6) came from the back beaten a whisker here finishing ahead of the above. She battled on fairly at Wyong the one after. Always puts in and gets another chance. GALLIC FOX (1) has been off his peaks but showed better form at Newcastle in a 64. Draws for a soft run and Cahill is reunited. Is likely looking for this trip.

Race 4 1000m Open 2

Tricky and several of the debutants have looked sharp in the lead-ups. ENTER THE DRAGON (3) debuts and may be the best of the Waterhouse-Bott-trained pair. Brings two solid city trials and will likely race forward. As with most in this race, the betting moves will tell plenty. SERIAL OFFENDER (9) raced in a rich contest at Doomben on debut and disappointed when starting a $4.5 2nd favourite. Matt Dale must have an opinion and he's back after 104 days. Has the inside gate and a bold run is likely. SKY CAP (5) resumes for the Neasham barn and missed a lip in her most recent trial. Will be well-prepared and can take this out without surprise. ASURIITO (2) debuts owning two trial wins. Beasley's booking suggests they mean business. SPRITZY LASS (7) is the other Waterhouse-Bott-trained debutant and has also had two trial hit-outs. Draws a handy gate and 25% stable striker JVO rides. Must be kept safe.

Race 5 1600m Bm 70

MATLOCK (2) dug deep here first-up to get up in the shadows of the post over this distance. He'd been off the scene for 527 days and it was a mighty effort. Draws low and may run them along today with the blinkers applied again. In a top Sydney barn and stripping fitter can go back-to-back. MERISI (4) missed a nose behind the above and will also be better for it. Needs a touch of luck pushing forward from the awkward barrier. LICHESTER (9) spiked her figures winning the CL1 at Kembla Grange and then just missed a place at Newcastle when on-pace in a 64. Stays down in the weights and maps well. Deserves another chance over the mile. GOOD LIEUTENANT (3) was outgraded at Randwick but won the 65 here prior by a space. Keeps Beasley and a bounce isn't out of the question. DONEGAL LIGHTS (1) brings a string of wins over this trip. Carries more weight again and that's a niggle. Hard to risk all the same.

Race 6 1300m Open - Federal.

BON FRANKIE (5) brought strong form to resumption when missing a lip at Moruya. Matched his best following winning a Highway at Rosehill. Stays down in the weights in stronger and maps for a soft run. He can go back-to-back. DORAMI (6) improved again when narrowly beaten in a Randwick Highway and then found a place here in Open grade starting a short-priced favourite. She will ride the speed from an inside gate and has won 2/2 at this course/distance. Freshened and is a live chance. CHAMPIONS LEAGUE (2) won easily here in an Open beating home the above. Came back and was disappointed in the same grade. Probably needs the cut out of the ground and may get that. KING GUTHO (3) finds it hard to win but is going well enough to consider.

Race 7 1300m Cl1

SHADOW DANE (4) resumed in good order winning a Wagga Maiden well-supported. He'd switched to the Matt Dale barn and had been threatening in strong provincial Maidens. Has a sticky barrier but keeps Heywood and can take the next step. HURRICANE ABLOWING (5) was back on track missing a whisker at Moruya first-up. Looked the part winning his Maiden here on debut over 1200m and that form would have him right in the finish. CHASING A QUID (6) has been narrowly beaten both starts this preparation and further improvement is likely. Has more to give and the longer sprint suits. DECIMUS (2) resumes and would be a winning chance at best. Will race over further but has placed first-up and over this distance. He's had two city trial warmers and maps for a soft run. The betting will tell the story as to his readiness.

Race 8 1000m Bm 60

BOLD JULIUS (5) resumes gelded for a top Sydney barn and has trialled well at Gosford and Warwick Farm. Brings strong Victorian form and has the blinkers applied for the first time. Is likely to be wound up this time around and this isn't strong. KISSING SUPIDO (3) is third-up and has switched to the Joe Cleary yard on a 23-day return. He went well first-up in a CL2 and was outgraded his latest in town. He will use the rail and Cahill's booking is a decent push for his chances. MY GIRONA (9) was nudged out at Parkes showing more like his best. That stacks up and she will be better for it. Owen is a positive jockey booking. ASTUNNER (6) resumes for a local barn and will use the low alley. He's won fresh and no surprise if he's further improved. Keep onside. TIMPERLEY (10) will be fitter and isn't out of it.
