Jon Snow made an impressive Australian debut. Having his first run since finishing third in the New Zealand Derby (Gr 1, 2400m) at Ellerslie on 4 March, he enjoyed a good trip behind the leader (My Kind), moved up nicely at the 600m, easily took the lead at the 300m and was not threatened from that point to win decisively in a strong staying effort.

Prized Icon raced in seventh place on the rails, improved between runners at the 600m, went through on the inner at the 300m, going to second at the 200m. He then battled on well in the conditions for a good second albeit without troubling the winner.

Captain Duffy ran his best race in three starts this preparation. He settled in sixth place, made a wide move approaching the home turn, put in a bid at the 300m and then battling on nicely to hold third.
