Morphettville Races Review on 1st April 2023

Mornington trainer Matt Laurie got his day off well when the two-year-old Chilled filly took out the 1100 metre opening race at Morphettville on Saturday.

Having the services of Zac Spain and resuming from a spell Chilled led all the way.

Celebrating his fifty-sixth wedding anniversary the senior partner of the Macdonald/Gluyas training operation Leon Macdonald had another reason to celebrate when Pearl Adios  took out the 1600 meter second race.

Guided to victory by Jason Holder, Pearl Adios came from a rearward position to record narrow victory.

Having not won a race for a year Magic Max returned to the winner's list when he took out the 1050 metre third race.

Continuing the good run for co-trainers Gordon Richards and Damien Moyle the Lachlan Neindorf ridden Magic Max was seen running on from a midfield position late in the event.

A training change from Danny O'Brien to Cody Reardon paid off when Grinzinger Prince won the 1200 metre fourth race.

Ridden by Emily Finnegan Grinzinger Prince  came from a better than midfield position to record his third win from thirteen starts.

Crown Mint broke an 18-month drought when he took out the 2000 metre fifth race.

Giving Jason Holder and the training duo of Gordon Richards and Damien More a double Crown Mint came from a midfield position with a strong run late in the event.

Calling Bendigo home trainer Jess Gleeson brought up her first city winner when Prairie Fire took out the 1100 metre sixth race.

Having the services of apprentice Ellis Wong, Prairie Fire led all the way.

Being housed at the Mornington stable of Cliff Brown, Little Miss Kubi was impressive in taking out the listed Manihi Classic which was run over 1100 metres.

Ridden by Jake Toeroek Little Miss Kubi was one off the pace in winning the first of the Morphettville feature races for the day.

The four-year-old mare Miss Kermie kept her good form in order when she took out the 1600 metre eighth race.

Being trained at Morphettville by Phillip Stokes and ridden by Caitlin Jones Miss Kermie led all the way.

Jake Toeroek landed his second winner for the day and the feature double when As Time Goes By took out the listed Clare Lindop Stakes which was run over 1600 metres.

Mentored by Anthony and Sam Freedman at Mornington, As Time Goes By came from well back with a strong run over the concluding stages.

Murray Bridge trainer Peter Hardacre was well pleased with the win of Press Down in the 1050 metre tenth race.

Having the services of Callan Murray, Press Down was well back and made a sustained run late in the event.
