The team at Betfair provides a Washup of all the key racing results across the day including biggest Betfair Starting Price winners, Bad Beats, In-play Longshots and more.

LEGEND STATUS CONFIRMED IN THE DONCASTER

Grey skies threatened to ruin the party at Royal Randwick, but as the sun finally poked through it was a different kind of grey that got the crowd roaring.

The magnificent Celestial Legend rose above them all to claim the Doncaster Mile, one of four group 1s on an exhilarating day of sport.

Chain of Lightning upset a field that contained champion sprinter Imperatriz en route to claiming the TJ Smith, whilst Manaal got the perfect steer from Jason Collett in the Inglis Sires.

Meanwhile, Riff Rocket has now claimed both the derbies in Melbourne and Sydney after securing yet another Group 1 to close out the day.

At Caulfield we saw Gold Wolf deliver Neil Farley a first stakes winner in Australia in a massive blowout.

Captain Envious also provided a huge price in the Easter Cup which came with a nice price advantage as well.

Rain couldn't spoil the party, and what a party it was!

BEST BACKED WINNERS

Remarkably, at Caulfield not a single favourite won, and by extension the best backed runner failed to win a single race on the card.

It was a different story in Sydney with Espionage and Circle of Fire both well supported in early events.

Espionage held 63% of matched volume ahead of victory in the first.

The best backed winner all day though was Riff Rocket in the Group 1 Australian Derby.

The now three time Group 1 winner (pictured) broke well clear of the rest of the market with nearly 70% of matched volume with the favourite.

His victory was the most popular amongst Betfair punters across the day.

FIRMERS AND DRIFTERS

The first two big firms of the day fell flat with Sacred Feeling losing at Eagle Farm despite a move from $2.88 into $2.16.

Bandis Boy made a similar move in Race 5 at Randwick before also going under.

Storm Boy followed suit in the Inglis with a move of $2.80 into $2.10 before going down.

It continued at Morphettville in Race 5 with Karavas firming and losing.

The best and almost only successful firm of the day came in Race 9 at Eagle Farm when Iverson (pictured) firmed from $6 into $3.70 before winning.

The drifts proved more beneficial though, with Imperatriz easing from $2.54 out to $3.45 and further out to $4.20 before getting beaten in the TJ Smith.

Globe was also a big drift at Caulfield in Race 8 before falling short.

BAD BEATS AND IN-PLAY BOLTERS

Storm Boy classifies as a bad beat based on the firm he had and the volume matched on the race. Jumping at $2.16 with over $400,000 in total matched on the race was a tough one to swallow.

The worst of the day in terms of in-play action came in Race 3 at Caulfield when Bews (pictured) hit $1.02 in the run at the 200m before getting beaten. He had jumped at $6.53 but looked the winner for a long way.

Crimson Vine jumped at $1.60 in the first at Morphettville which is bad enough, but also hit $1.04 in-play before getting beaten. Nasty!

The NBA did its usual thing with both the Pelicans and the Bucks losing matches at almost the same time and both from $1.08 in play!

Their opponents, the Spurs and Raptors were both matched at $13.50.

The A-League rounds us out with Western United pinching a late win over Macarthur FC after hitting $16.50 in the run.

They were matched for more than $2500 at $10 or more.

PRICE ADVANTAGE

Feroce started the day rolling at Caulfield with a 20.7% edge at the $4.95 BSP.

Inhibitions at $9.87 in Race 4 was 28% better with Legacies 15% stronger in Race 6 at a similar price.

Gold Wolf (pictured) was enormous in the Gallilee Final, with a $58.42 BSP coming at a 30% better dividend. Which amounts to $140 for a $10 outlay.

Here to Shock was 36% better in the next, with Captain Envious (24%) also a big advantage in Race 9.

At Randwick, Espionage kicked us off with 17% in Race 1, Circle of Fire did the same thing in the second, Ducassee (12%), Good Banter (10%) and Chain of Lightning (9%) all followed suit.

Riff Rocket was 22% better in the Derby to top the card and Facile closed it out with 18% in the last.
