Oakbank Races Review on 8th April 2023

The first starter Storyteller opened his winning account when he took out the 1050 metre opening race at Oakbank on Saturday.


Being under the care of Michael Hickmott at Murray Bridge the apprentice Ben Price ridden Storyteller came from well back and finished the race off strongly.

The Murray Bridge track made it two wins from two races when the Peter Hardacre trained Tahnee Tradition won the 1400 metre second race.

Ridden by Callan Murray Tahnee Tradition was in the leading division throughout the event.

Fiorada Lad made it two winners from four starts when he took out the 1400 metre third race.

Being under the care of Sue and Jason Jaensch at Murray Bridge the Samuel Payne guided Fiorada Lad was always handy to the lead when he ran two off the pace.

After running second in the non-TAB Streaky Bay Cup Havaduel went one better when he took out the 1900 metre Country Cup.

Prepared y Trevor Day the Jeffrey Maund ridden Havaduel raced in a forward position throughout the event.

Clever Man continued to be a model of consistency when he brought up his third win in succession in the Onkaparinga Cup which was run over 2150 metres.

Being under the care of Trevor White at Mount Gambier and giving Samuel Payne his second winner Clever man came from last with a strong run over the concluding stages.

Apprentice Lachlan Overall made a triumphant return to SA racing when he guided Prince Jofra to victory in the 1400 metre sixth race.

Prepared by Garret Lynch and having his second race after a spell Prince Jofra was well placed.

Jockey Harry Grace continued his good run in SA when he steered Rolls to a win in the 1400 metre seventh race.

Being under the care of Matty Raymond at Warrnambool Rolls raced two off the pace before scoring a narrow victory.

Trainer Michael Hickmott landed his second winner for the day when Taunting took out the 1100 metre listed Railway Stakes.

Ridden by Jessica Eaton and coming of a last start fourth Taunting was seen running on from well back late in the event.
