Morphettville Races Review on 17th September 2023

After running two minor placings at her last two starts Our Shining Star won her second race in the opening event of 1200 metres at Morphettville on Saturday.

Being under the care of Richard and Chantelle Jolly the Jake Toeroek guided Our Shining Star  came from last to power home and win convincingly.

The training combination of Gary and Nichole Searle and Brinanna Callanan were well pleased with the win of Aztec Dancer in the 1100 metre second race.

Ridden by apprentice Jacob Opperman Aztec Dancer came from well back with a well-timed run over the concluding stages.

The first starter four-year-old Royal Handed could have a bright future ahead after he took out the 1100 metre third race at his first race-day appearance.

Prepared jointly by Will Clarken and Niki O'Shea and ridden by apprentice Ben Price Royal Handed came from a midfield position with a strong run late in the event to meet with success.

Richard and Chantelle Jolly landed their second winner for the afternoon when Montepulciano took out the 2051 metre fourth race.

Well handled by Kayla Crouther Montepulciano came from last with a long, sustained run to beat his stablemate Does It.

Jake Toeroek landed his second winner for the day when thee three-year-old gelding Angry Skies won the 1541 metre fifth race.

Prepared by Ben, Will and JD Hayes Angry Skies gradually improved from a better than midfield position to bring up his second win from eleven starts.

Co-trainers Will Clarken and Niki O'Shea secured their second winner for the day when Sixteen Reasons won the 1200 metre sixth race.

Having the services of Linda Meech Sixteen Reasons was well placed.

Jake Toeroek brought up his third winner for the day when Braveman's game took out the 1200 metre seventh race.

Making it two wins in succession the Michael Hickmott prepared Braveman'sgame raced one off the pace before going in to win.

After playing second fiddle to Leon Macdonald for several years Andrew Gluyas brought up the first city winner of his solo career when Lovely Lookin' took out the 1050 metre eighth race.

Having the services of Caitlin Jones Lovely Lookin' came from a midfield position with a withering run over the concluding sages.

Lachlan Neindorf continued his good run when he guided Grey River to her first win after a spell in the 1100 metre ninth race.

Prepared on the course by Jon O'Connor Grey River steadily improved from a forward position to win the listed event.

Coming from barrier here Set to Prophet gave talented but underutilised rider Ryan Hurdle a win in the 1600 metre final event.

Being under the care of Grant Young at Murray Bridge Set to Prophet came from a rearward position to take out the final event.
