The outsider Respondent put in a very good effort to score an upset victory over the luckless favourite Ihtsahymn who was trapped wide without cover in the run. Respondent settled down midfield between runners. He pushed out three wide from the 800m working forward to take a closer position when the pace slackened mid race. He was then shuffled back to third last approaching the home turn. Cornering on the outside of the field before putting in a big finish over the field to draw away to a good win. Ihtsahymn was trapped four wide without cover and did a lot of work in the run, working up to be challenging the leaders at the 600m. He momentarily took the lead inside the final 200m but could not match the big finish of Respondent on his outside. *ANZ
