The favourite Real Charm scored in an exciting three-way finish. She was eased shortly after the start from her wide barrier (12) and settled midfield, three wide with cover. William Pike moved her up approaching the home turn and she commenced a strong run from the 250m. She got to second at the 100m and battled gamely to win by a head at the post. Need A Lift was near the rear, wide with cover. She fanned deep rounding the home turn and ran on well, getting to third at the 100m before rallying well for a good second. The top weight (59kg) Miss Ross De Lago went to the lead, set quite a good tempo before sprinting clear at the 300m. She then fought back particularly well for a close third.
