The favourite Scales Of Justice is building a great record, stepping up to win his first Group race, taking his record to six wins, without missing a place in 12 starts to date. He was a bit slow to move but showed good pace to recover to race outside the leader (Vengabus), going a bit keenly in stages. He got to the front at the 200m and then fought back strongly for a very good win. The outsider Bass Strait settled back in ninth place, got between runners at the home run, challenged at the 100m and battled well for second in a surprisingly good effort. Ideal Image raced in sixth place, moved up (under riding) coming to the home turn and then kept battling on to take third.
