Consistent Adam Durrant-trained mare Silverstream took her record to eight wins and five placings from 24 starts in taking out this Group Two race. She settled nicely in fifth place, on the rails, behind a moderate tempo (first 800m 48.87). William Pike eased her deeper rounding the home turn, but she took a moment to wind up in the sprint home before coming with a strong late run to grab a late victory in impressive fashion. Great Shot was smartly away and went straight to the front. He was then able to steady the pace before being challenged coming to the home turn. He then fought back really well, only being overhauled on the post for a very good second. The favourite Scales Of Justice soon moved up to race outside the leader (Great Shot) but he raced quite keenly due to the slow mid-race tempo. He put pressure on the leader rounding the home turn and after quite a battle in the straight he held on for a close up third. The three-year-old Salubrious was third to the home turn and kept fighting on really well in the straight for fourth, beaten only a half-length.
