State Solicitor took his highly consistent record to nine wins from 12 starts in taking out his first at Group level here. He was a bit slow to move from his inside barrier (1) but soon improved to settled in seventh place on the rails. He was blocked nearing the home turn, William Pike then got him along the inner nearing the 200m and took a split to hit the front in the closing stages to grab victory by a short neck. Caipirinha raced in third place, but was caught wide without cover. She moved up well rounding the home turn, got to the front at the 100m only to be caught nearing the post to take a very a very good second after a difficult trip. Durendal raced in fifth place, between runners, switched out on straightening, challenged at the 100m and fought on well for a close up third while Profit Street ran on well, late for a close fourth.
