In a close four-way finish, the Simon Miller-trained mare Meteoroid broke through for a deserved stakes victory. She raced in fourth place, on the rails, behind a steady pace (first 600m 36.67) in the Heavy 8 conditions before taking a split to challenge on passing the 300m. She then fought best to score narrowly but well. The favourite Profit Street drifted back to settle in fifth place on the rails before switching deeper to commence his run on straightening. He challenged at the 100m and then fought well for a close second. Battle Hero raced in third place, one off the rails, challenged at the 200m and then fought gamely for third while It’s It was the co-leader (racing on the rails), held a break nearing the 200m and then held on well for fourth, beaten less than a half-length.
