The 2014 Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) winner The Offer, settled nicely back in fourth place, one off the rails, following a generous pace. Michael Walker asked him to improve coming to the home turn and he hit the front on straightening. He then battled strongly fighting back under his top weight (59kg) to win well. Divan was back in sixth place on the rails, improved between runners nearing the home turn, challenged coming to the 200m and fought well for second after appearing to have every chance. Kirramosa travelled well in seventh place, one off the rails, moved up rounding the home turn, got to fifth at the 100m and kept fighting to grab third in the last few strides. Maygrove had a good run in fourth place on the rails, got an inside run on turning for home and looked a threat when he challenged at the 200m. He then battled on well, just missing a place in the closing stages for (1.1 lengths) fourth.
