Three-year-old gelding What A Shock did well in winning here at his fourth start. Having his third run this preparation, he settled back in eighth place, one off the rails, from his wide barrier (10) before improving (deep) approaching the home turn. He sprinted quickly to challenge at the 100m and then finished a bit too well to score a very smart win. The Lindsay Park-trained Fast Tycoon, having only his third race start, settled in fourth on the rails from his inside barrier (1) prior to moving up on turning for home. He took the lead on passing the 200m and then fought well for second just finding the winner a bit too good.
