The Chris Waller-trained, New Zealand-bred colt Presscott, racing in blinkers for the first time, scored a promising win at his third race start. Resuming over 1600m, he led in the early stages from his inside barrier (1) and then eased to settle in third place on the rails. He was shuffled back nearing the home turn, got along the inner on turning for home, hit the front at the 100m and then went on to win, seemingly with something in hand.
