Darren Weir-trained filly Leather ‘N’ Lace followed her impressive first-up win in a Warrnambool 3YO Maiden (1100m) on 24 August when having her second race start to score another really good win here. She was quickly away and went straight to the front. She then travelled comfortably, got a break shortly after straightening and fought back to win with something in hand, looking set to progress to better things. Andrew Noblet-trained filly Mahlani raced in second place, challenged at the 200m and kept fighting gamely for a good second in a promising effort.
