The Paul Messara-trained Scissor Kick, resuming after finishing seventh on debut at this track in March, to score impressively. He was a little slow to move but recovered quickly and settled outside the leader (Busting Through) at a solid tempo. He forged to the lead shortly after turning for home and drew clear to win in good time by almost three lengths. He is an attractive colt who looks to have quite a future. Crooked Blaze had a good trip in third place to the turn. He went to second at the 200m and then battled on nicely, although having no chance with the winner, for a sound second, beaten two and three quarter lengths. Electrifyin’ raced near last on the rails and was under riding nearing the turn. She then improved along the rails, switched out at the 200m and ran on well for a late-closing third. She should appreciate further and is worth watching. The favourite Crimson God was about sixth to the turn but ran on only fairly in the straight for a disappointing (6.5 lengths) fifth. *ANZ
