Team Hawkes-trained colt Redouble did well winning here on debut. He enjoyed a good trip behind from barrier two, racing behind the leader (Serena’s Pride) before getting a split to challenge on turning for home. He then responded to riding to hit the front at the 50m and then fought back to score nicely. Godolphin-raced filly Raiment was trapped a bit deep from barrier eight, racing in sixth place before moving up (deep) rounding the home turn. She then kept running on well for a good second after a difficult trip and looking suited to further. Serena’s Pride led the field until passing the 100m and held on for third after running a bold race, while the favourite Sezanne raced in fourth place and put in a run at the 200m but only battled from that point to finish (1.9 lengths) fourth.
