Anthony Cummings-trained two-year-old El Sid resumed at his second race start to score a narrow but good first-up win. He began well and settled nicely outside the leader (Regimental Force) before putting pressure on that runner approaching the home turn. He got to the front on passing the 200m and still had enough in hand to win well considering his early efforts. Godolphin-raced colt Bezel was fourth, one out and one back, but was under riding nearing the 600m. He looked beaten on straightening but responded from the 200m and came with a strong late finish to take a promising second on debut. He will appreciate further and is a horse to watch. Regimental Force was quickly away and led the field until the 200m. He then kept fighting on quite well for a sound third at his second run this preparation.
