Chetwood was away well and taken forward from his outside barrier to lead at a solid early pace. He had most of his rivals off the bit approaching the home turn and extended his lead to over five lengths on straightening. He was allowed to cost to the post late in the straight allowing the runner up Cannyescent to get within a length of him. Cannyescent came from third last on the home turn. He chased the leader the whole way to the line but was no match for the winner who scored with a little in hand.
