The Gary Portelli-trained filly Improvement followed her debut second in a Hawkesbury 3YO Maiden (1100m) on 18 November with a very good win here. She was smartly away and went straight to the front and then travelled really well. She was challenged nearing the home turn, got a break at the 100m and then held on to score well in a promising effort. The John Thompson-trained filly Loveletter settled back in fifth place, one off the rails, and came with a late run for a very good second on debut.
