Team Hawkes-trained colt Spirit And Fire is now the winner of two of his only three starts after scoring a good first up win over older opposition here. He began well from his inside barrier (1) and then eased to race in second place before moving up to pressure the leader (Golden Shoes) at the 600m. He got the better of his rival at the 100m and then went to score quite impressively.
