David Pfieffer-trained three-year-old gelding Copy Boy put up a nice effort in winning here on debut, albeit narrowly. He began well and eased to settle in fourth place, one out and one back, before moving up at the home turn. He got the better of the leader (Consider It Done) on passing the 200m and then held on to score in a photo. The Les Bridge-trained filly Seasons, who was resuming after a second on debut in a three-year-old maiden (1100m) at this track on 1 December, raced in third place on the rails but was held up on straightening. She was finally able to eased into clear running at the 100m and then came with a strong finish to just miss, finishing an unlucky second in a promising first up performance.
