The Ciaron Maher-trained filly Top Sight scored an impressive win on debut. She did not show any early pace and was allowed to settle at the tail of the seven-horse field by Michelle Payne. The filly was under riding to improve passing the 600m where she was giving the leader about seven lengths. She was eased wide at the 300m and came with late-finish to score a soft win at the post by just over a length. She should be suited to much longer distances and looks the makings of a smart filly. The Darley-raced filly Sakitto followed her debut second at this track on 11 December with another second. She was trapped deep in the early stages and eased to race about fifth, getting cover from the 600m. She switched out shortly after straightening, challenged at the 150m and kept fighting on well, just finding the late-closing winner too strong. The favourite Cautious ($2.75) went forward from her outside barrier and crossed to be outside the leader at the 600m. She got to the front on passing the 200m but then tired after her early effort for third, beaten two lengths. *ANZ
